Many families are turning away from traditional funeral services.
One of the main reasons is the cost involved with a funeral, and another is that they would rather have a “celebration of life” than the more formal, rigid and often sombre service in a church or elsewhere. This is where my services come in.
There is a lot of confusion around funerals, and many families simply hand everything over to a funeral company because they don’t know they have other options. I will guide you through this difficult and often confusing time.
Every funeral company can offer you a “no service, no attendance” option. This is exactly what it reads. The funeral company takes care of your loved one from where they pass away. There is no family involvement, and the company arranges transport to the cremation or the burial, depending on your choice. This option is around $2000, rather than a regular funeral which is anywhere from around $6000 to $15000. With regards to a cremation, the ashes are returned to the family.
The family then have the opportunity of organising a wonderful celebration of life, without the time pressure of making important decisions when they are in shock or grieving. This way friends and relatives have time to get organised, travel and contribute. The memorial can be any time – a significant date or simply when you feel “ready”.
I will meet with your family, and we will organise a meaningful and unique farewell from this life for your loved one. I will script the memorial service, assist with choosing a location and suggest ideas for memorialising your loved one’s life. I can contact suppliers for catering, flowers, or anything else you may need. The memorial celebration can be in a park, a hall, at a club, or anywhere you choose.
A memorial is truly a unique, genuine, caring and relaxed way to go through the process of grief, and give your loved one a wonderful farewell from this life.
